Welcome Emily Simons

Data and Research Associate VISTA

Emily, originally from Pennsylvania, joined the Cape and Islands United Way as an AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) in September of 2018. AmeriCorps VISTA members build capacity in nonprofit organizations and public agencies to help them more effectively generate the commitment of private sector resources, encourage volunteer service at the local level, and empower individuals and communities.

Emily is a recent graduate from Chatham University with a BA in Policy Studies, and will be be with our organization for one year. In her time here, she is documenting local needs, researching potential solutions, and creating the infrastructure to measure and report outcomes.

We are so fortunate to have Emily on board. In a short time, she has made valuable contributions in the areas of data collection and research, helping us deepen our understanding of our communities' unique challenges. – Mark Skala, President & CEO

Since 1965, over 220,000 VISTA members have served with the mission to strengthen organizations that alleviate poverty. VISTA serves in each of the 50 U.S. States and in all U.S. Territories. VISTA members go where they are needed and make a difference through volunteering and the mobilization of resources.
