Cape & Islands United Way Distributes 1,300 Nutritious Meals to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Cape & Islands United Way recently partnered with the John W. Hughan Foundation to help provide nutritious shelf-stable meals to local organizations serving individuals and families across Cape Cod.

Thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers from the John W. Hughan Foundation, who gathered at Stone Horse Yacht Club to assemble meals, a total of 1,300 nutritious shelf-stable meals were packaged and distributed to six local nonprofit organizations working on the front lines of food insecurity and community support.

The recipient organizations included:

• Brazilian Resource Center

• Health Imperatives

• Cape Veterans' Outreach Center

• A Baby Center

• Hands of Hope

• Faith Family Kitchen

  
  

"Access to nutritious food is a fundamental need, and we're grateful to partner with organizations that share our commitment to caring for our neighbors," said Mark Skala, President and CEO of the Cape & Islands United Way. "These meals will help local nonprofits continue their important work supporting families, veterans, seniors, and individuals facing challenging circumstances throughout our region."

The Cape & Islands United Way also recognized the extraordinary work of the John W. Hughan Foundation, whose volunteers organized and packed the meals. The foundation is dedicated to addressing food insecurity by providing nutritious, shelf-stable meals to communities in need through volunteer-powered meal-packing events.
