Who We Are
Every day, we meet people who inspire us, humble us, and lift us up.
The Cape and Islands United Way is built on the belief that together we can accomplish more than any individual or organization can do alone. We are all part of a powerful movement that is aimed at changing lives.
Our overarching goal is to support and help create safe, diverse and viable local communities in which individuals and families thrive.
WHAT WE DO
The Cape and Islands United Way leads social impact in the region. Partnering with donors, volunteers, and nonprofit organizations, we unite to improve lives and build stronger communities on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket.
We unite to improve lives and build stronger communities.
The Cape and Islands United Way is the regions’ leading social impact organization. Together — with our donors, volunteers, and partners — we foster local communities where children succeed, families are financially stable, residents are healthy, and there is safe and affordable housing for all.
We unite so that:
Individuals are strong, resilient and healthy
Children and youth succeed
Families are economically stable
Families are safely housed
Community Impact & Annual Reports
In an ongoing effort to redistribute the maximum amount of dollars back into the community, we strive to manage our operations as efficiently as possible, maintain a small staff, and rely on volunteer support. Last year, our overhead was 19%, well below the Better Business Bureau’s recommendation of up to 35% and below the United Way recommended standard of 25%.
