Meet Our Intern!

Craig Machnik of Yarmouthport is a go-getter. Lucky for the Cape and Islands United Way, the Bentley University student is spending part of his summer interning for the organization.

The Cape resident just finished his junior year at the Waltham business school, where he is majoring in management and minoring in law. He said he sought the internship as a way to understand more about the Cape community and further his connections. His goal is to return to the Cape to work fulltime after graduation.

“This is home and I thought what a great way to learn about the challenges and issues facing our community,” Craig said. “All of the connections and people I meet, will only help me later on. Plus, it is so rewarding to be a part of helping others.”

His first task was assisting with the United Way’s community baby shower on May 19 in Hyannis, where he was amazed at the response and the number of people who need a little support. “It really was so inspiring, to see so many organizations and people come together to help others in need,”  he said.

Craig is the son of Craig and Tracey Machnik and has three younger brothers. His grandparents founded Today Real Estate, which is now run by his father and uncle.

He is working at Captain Parker’s restaurant in South Yarmouth this summer, in addition to his internship. In his spare time, he loves to golf as much as he can.
