Volunteer

The Cape and Islands United Way is committed to improving lives and building stronger communities on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket. Our network – of donors, volunteers, and citizens who care – works to provide both a safety net for those in need, and to create a collective community vision that drives sustainable change. This work includes encouraging and facilitating volunteerism and supporting MASS-2-1-1, a free and confidential 24/7 information and support line.

Announcing our new volunteerism site: capeforgood.org

In April, the Massachusetts Service Alliance (MSA) invited us to join them in bringing a new platform to our area.  This platform – We Connect for Good – is already operational and successful in several major cities across the country. It is available at no expense to our region’s active nonprofits and it allows our partners to:

  • Tell their story and connect it to what they need (money, volunteers, donated items)

  • Expose the organization to a new and wider audience inclined to help

  • Share real-time data during a crisis

  • Create and update organizational information in real time

Some of the other features of this new platform include:

  • Access to virtual volunteer opportunities

  • Direct links to individual organizations, with complete profiles

  • Ability to submit and view impact stories and data, particularly in relation to COVID-19

  • A variety of ways for visitors to engage, including ways to help (volunteer or donate items), ways to give (contribute to a campaign or make a direct donation)

The transition from capecodvolunteers.org to capeforgood.org will be completed by October 31, 2020. After that date, capecodvolunteers.org will no longer be functional and all users will be redirected to the new site.
