The Cape and Islands United Way established this fund to provide support for local nonprofits on the front lines. The first priority area of funding is for organizations providing access to basic needs during this crisis.
Last week, three organizations were funded, all with whom we have a long history of community partnership:
YMCA Cape Cod
Grant amount: $5,000
Funds will be used to support their work as child care providers for essential employees of Cape Cod Healthcare and other healthcare organizations. The Y will operate those child care centers at 4 locations across the Cape and can serve up to 40 children at each location.

We have partnered with the Y for many years and know the quality of their services. We are not surprised that they have stepped up to support our medical personnel and their families. – Mark Skala, President & CEO, Cape and Islands United Way
Cape Cod Council of Churches
Grant amount: $5,000
Funds will be used to support their work with low income and at-risk individuals and families through two of their programs: Faith Family Kitchen and A Baby Center. Faith Family Kitchen usually provides meals three times a week through a partnership with Faith Assembly Church. They are changing their model to provide meals on a carry out basis for individuals and families. A Baby Center provides essential supplies for families with babies and young children that include diapers, wipes, and formula.
